Velia likes flowing materials in dresses and skirts, but is equally comfortable in sneakers, jeans and a jumper when watching friends play Quidditch. She does have a fondness for scarves and hats, mixing and matching her collection of them. She is not lazy or a slob but can make even the most casual of clothes appear and look good. Velia isn't glamourous nor would she call herself that but she does like fashion and at least looking good and making a decent proper appearance. |

It grew from the persecution of her father, and then his death and that of her brother. Velia still wants revenge but can keep calm and remain patient. The time will come and then Merlin help those in her way. She reads voraciously, mostly on divination, and of those things related to her abilities. She's very independent and self-sufficient. Velia is a good listener, tends to try and keep her temper in stressful situations, and can often be very selfless. She likes taking care of things, of people and making them happy. She fears dying from a brain hemorrhage or aneurysm caused from a vision as her body gives in to the pain and/or information/vision she is seeing. She is stronger than she knows, and this is less likely than Velia believes. Velia loves to cook when she stressed out so she's cooked a lot. She is just as comfortable lounging around at home as she is dressed up and going out with friends; it all just depends on her mood, which can change as fast as her clothes sometimes. Velia leaves a lasting impression on everyone who meets her, with a smile on her face and quick to laugh. She is always gracious and charming and expects big things from herself. ***** Pisces - This is not the most natural of sun signs for a Slytherin to be born into, but it's not unheard of, and when it happens, the results are usually interesting. HISTORY: Augustus Rookwood took on the mantle of continuing the family when his brother couldn't sire children and married the right and proper Aella Greengrass. She was attractive and the Greengrass family was a well-known, good and proper family. It was a good match for both ambitious people. She was younger than he was and it was really a marriage of convenience but there was a strong relationship of love and friendship that they both supported and loved. They cared for each other a great deal. Children came soon after. A son and heir, Nikomedes first and the two parents were thrilled at the bright and vibrant child, and then two years later, Velia joined her brother. It was a happy time and they were a picture perfect happy family but it was not to last. Aella passed away when Velia was still young. She was only just over a year old and only has vague images and feeling about her mother but doesn't clearly remember her at all. It is one of the things that causes her sorrow still to this day. Augustus was devoted and loving to both of his children, trying to make up for the loss of their parent, of his beloved wife. They had nannies to help considering his job, but he was there when they needed him. The headaches started soon after that, they weren't too bad at first but then they were crippling, her head feeling like it would explode sometimes. Several Healers were sought but nothing could be found. On and on they went through the beginning of school and into her teens. Then she saw Igor Karkaroff testifying against her father and Augustus being arrested. It was then that she realised for certain what she was, and what was happening. Velia and Nikomedes were placed with family who treated them well and loved them and they had no complains about being there other than they weren't with their father. She grudgingly grew stronger and came to accept that she was a Seer and wanted to raise her skill as much as she could. With this ability came great responsiblity and she would need to learn to decipher what she saw and who to tell, if anyone. It was mostly kept to herself as even among those in the Wizarding world she knew, a Seer was still looked upon as lesser or more strange than others. She followed her brother to Hogwarts in 1985 and was sorted into Slytherin House. It was an curious choice but she did fit in the house quite well. Velia liked school and liked to study so keeping her grades up was almost an after thought. She wanted to make her father proud and make her family proud as well. She made friends, some becoming closer than others like Jordan Blishwick, a Slytherin in the same year as she was, as well as some of her brother's friends too. Nik and Velia were very close and he was quick to be her defender should others have slandering or mean words again her, or their family. She excelled in Charms and Potions and learned she should stay away from plants as evidenced in some disasterous classes in Herbology. She was excited for the Heir of Slytherin, wanting it to be true, not caring who it was, just that they got their people out of Azkaban, but it was not meant to be. Sirius Black escaped and she was glad because if one could do it, then others could too. She was glued to each post, each copy of the various papers, wanting more news as it came. One day, it would be there, the news of Augustus' escape. He was a smart man and he would get out in due time. He wouldn't be a hunted wanted fugitive that was for sure. The next year tried her patience and her courage as the evil traitor to her family, Igor Karkaroff, swept into Hogwarts for the Tri-Wizard Tournament. He was smarmy and she avoided him at all cost. She couldn't concentrate and for the first time Velia's grades weren't so stellar as they had been but it was for a good reason in her head. She kept an eye on him and made sure bad luck and things of ill-repute happened to him. It was a hard year and she was very glad when it was over. But the worse was still to come. 1996 came and the Dark Lord returned. More importantly, Augustus was released from prison and joined him once again. Velia was thrilled to have him back and and she and Nik enjoyed their reunion with their father and all getting to know each other again. Their inheritance was revealed, hidden in secret both in Gringott's as well as secret places among the Manor. The happiness lasted less than a year, a mere five months before the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and the capture of the Death Eaters once again. It was before she graduated and she was upset he didn't get to see her complete school on a good successful note. It was that time that she grew close to Jordan Blishwick. He was nice and charming and treated her like a lady, wanting to know about her and spoiling her as the time went along. It gave her an escape of sorts, a way of not completely always thinking of the on-going war, and of her father, who was back in prison again. He was reserved and in Slytherin, but she found him charming and they found each other often in the library and as time went on they would study together. Issues with her family changed within the year and Augustus escaped with some of the others, and came home. It was enough time that he could meet Jordan, whom Velia had fallen in love with, and gave his blessing to them both. It was a highlight during that point for her. Jordan was there for her as the war came to a head when Nik was killed in 1998. Velia was devestated and grief-stricken. She was to be getting married, but was dealing with settling the affairs of her brother and sorting his business as well as her own. She wanted to start her new life with Jordan and start their future. But fate intervened yet again. Augustus was killed in the Last Battle at Hogwarts and Velia was alone, her family gone. Her sorrow mounted and was soon added with an angry dose of revenge. Velia wanted those responsible to pay, not only for her father, but her brother as well. After the War ended, Jordan and Velia married. The couple settled into their own estate, Blishwick Manor, located in Cardiff, Wales. He continued his apprenticeship, finally becoming a Potions Master one his studies were complete. Instead of working for someone else, Jordan has chosen to have a potions lab out of his own home, where he works on a for hire basis. As a Greengrass and a Rookwood, reparations hit her but not as bad as some. Having her own inheritence as well as her brother's and now her father's, she could take care of that and try and put things behind her and start a new life. Her wedding to Jordan was a bright spot and so was he. He was there for her, caring for her and being a rock when she needed one most. She does worry about losing him, feeling like a curse to those she cares for as everyone else she's loved has perished. Velia and Jordan remain happy and in love, and are talking about starting a family sometime very soon. |
PLOT IDEAS: SAMPLE: ..... It's a bit more light again but I don't know what day it is, or really what the time of day is right now. I guess it doesn't matter. I know this isn't a dream but I don't know what's real or not anymore. I've only seen two people here and they were some of those keeping me here. I hear voices but I'm not convinced there not in my head.... And the screaming and banging... it won't stop.... They're experimenting on us or something. they took my blood. They know about me, say I'm not human. I fear if they find out the truth, they'll do worse. And I'm losing, I can't keep this up.... I'm not even sure that I'm not dead already and this is just a cruel joke.... I just can't do this............ That's all I remember, it's the same thing just like before, only I think the screaming and banging went along a lot longer this time. It's not my memory I'm seeing but that of someone else I think. Or just seeing it and looking down on what is happening. I hate this, not knowing, the fear it creates. I guess I should be glad that I don't have the nightmare every night; I hate worrying Jordan, but I wish I could get rid of it completely. I can't imagine things if it continues.... or gets worse. |
